MOBIDIA .wave™ COMPLETES 5 SUCCESSFUL FIELD TRIALS
Mobidia recently completed 5 field trials, on carrier networks in Europe and Asia, that yielded over 40% increase in available capacity of the radio access networks and accelerated subscribers' experiences by an average of 1.74x.
Vancouver, BC, June 26, 2009
Today, Mobidia Technology, Inc. announced performance results from their trialing activity in the second quarter of 2009 when their
.wave software platform was field tested on 3 Asian networks and 2 European mobile networks.
Mobidia’s
.wave offers mobile operators an innovative software solution that significantly decreases latency within the network which accelerates subscribers’ activities and increases available capacity within the network. By leveraging the growing power and sophistication of smartphones and connected laptops, the
.wave solution will also enhance policy and quality of service (QoS) implementations and provide operators with a comprehensive set of network information to obtain unique insights into subscriber’s usage activities.
In collaboration with mobile operators in Europe and Asia, Mobidia’s engineering team has just completed a set of field trials on live 3G mobile networks using local user equipment.
Extensive testing of the
.wave solution, within the operators actual network environments, yielded significant improvements in the performance and efficiency of the utilization of data resources. On average across the 5 networks, the
.wave solution provided a
42.49% increase in available capacity of resources used for TCP traffic. As significant, testing results demonstrated the solutions' ability to enhance subscribers quality of experience (QoE). Common activities, such as web browsing, file downloading, and video streaming, was, on average,
1.74x
"These field results are significant and compliment a series of operator lab trials that we have previously completed. As expected, our solution’s performance and its ability to positively impact a mobile data network increases as the level of congestion and variability increase on that network", said Derek Spratt, CEO of Mobidia. "And as the cost of data usage continues to grow faster than the revenue it can produce, network congestion and the operators’ need for efficiency will increase. Mobidia can provide operators with an important tool to help address these challenges."
Remote Trial and Piloting Availability
Mobidia’s technology has been trialed in North America, Europe, and Asia and their
.wave software is currently available for trialing and piloting on network types and generations. Mobile Operators interested in trialing or testing this solution should contact Mobidia immediately for scheduling and coordinating trialing opportunities.
