Derek Spratt
President & CEO

Derek has been an active CEO, founder, investor, advisor and board member with local BC technology firms for the past 25 years. He has also been a contributor to the technology community via his board level involvement in Acetech - the Academy of technology CEOs, and the Vancouver Enterprise Forum. Derek has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Queens and started out in his career in 1982, first as a product designer, and later in executive management and leadership positions, most recently as Founder and CEO of Intrinsyc Software International Inc (1996-2006). Other local firms Derek has worked for include: Consequent Technologies (co-founder, CEO), PCS Wireless (co-founder, past-President/EVP), Ernex (Advisor), Nexus Engineering (VP and business unit manager), Motorola (Product Manager), Integra Systems (Designer/Manager), Canysco Systems (Designer) and DBA Telecom (Designer). Additionally, Derek has worked to promote science curriculum to local K-12 students via philanthropic engagements with Science World BC and the Vancouver School Foundation, and also takes a keen interest in protecting the environment via his philanthropic and board level engagement with Eco-Justice Canada. Chris Hill
Vice President, Marketing

Chris has over fifteen years of experience within the information technology and wireless network industries and has held roles in product marketing, business development, and international sales and marketing. Before joining Mobidia, he spent 7 years at Microsoft, leading the product management team and their efforts to build and commercialize the Windows Mobile Platform, Microsoft's first platform for the PDA and smartphone categories. Prior to Microsoft, he lived in Asia for a number of years and helped build a small, privately-held, enterprise-grade IT Software Company into a global division of General Electric. Chris has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Masters of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on marketing from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Lawrence Chee
CTO & VP Engineering

With over 18 years of experience in consumer and telecommunications fields at Seiko Epson and PMC-Sierra, Lawrence has successfully delivered novel technologies from research concept to commercial product. Technically, Lawrence has architected high performance software, systems, and silicon solutions for which he has been awarded many patents. As well as technical expertise, Lawrence has also defined and executed strategic worldwide marketing plans that have effectively penetrated sectors with entrenched incumbents. Through his various positions, Lawrence has built, mentored and managed software, silicon and cross functional teams on a global scale. His experience spans from startup companies to a fast growing multi-national corporations. Lawrence holds a Degree in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia.
Chris Welsh
Vice President, Finance

Chris has over 16 years of financial management and executive experience in organizations of varying sizes in the technology, services and manufacturing sectors. Chris has extensive experience in all aspects of controllership and finance department management having held various financial and accounting roles including Controller and Vice-President Finance positions. In addition to leading the financial functions, he has participated in significant strategic transactions including start-ups, acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and large commercial transactions. Mr. Welsh holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a Chartered Accountant.
Murray Duncan
Director, Corporate Communications

Murray has spent the past twenty-eight years building businesses. He was co-founder of Peach Arch Entertainment (Vidatron), one of Canada's leading film and television companies, where he spent seventeen years. Peach Arch went public on the Vancouver Stock Exchange in 1988 and later listed on both the Toronto and American Stock Exchanges. Murray also served on the Board of Directors. Following Peach Arch Entertainment, Murray joined Intrinsyc Software where he served as Director, Corporation Communications for nine of his twelve years with the company. During his career, Mr. Duncan has helped raise over one hundred million dollars for both public and private companies.
